Horsehead Cast Iron Hitching Post Top 13 Tall 16.7lb 2-Piece Horse Tether Tie

  

Here is an antique or vintage cast iron horsehead hitching post top. This is an attentive horse with his ears perked up and his eyes looking forward.

Measures 13-inches tall and weighs 16.7 pounds. It's made of two pieces that are bolted together - once at the head and twice at the base. Oblong tie ring is 5-1/2 long. The iron is approximately 1/4 thick.

The base has a 5-inch outside diameter and approximate 4-1/2 inside diameter. No markings; origin, age and foundry unknown.

Condition: In very good as-found condition. The black color shows some wear and light surface rust. The tie ring has a bit of rust. The seams on the head are tight with a little unevenness (as manufactured) and there are some chips to the black paint.
